Information on S.C. Braga Europa League tickets

Sporting Braga might not be as well-recognised as the big three in the continent despite their consistent form and frequent entry to Europa League. They remain one of the most underrated dark horses in the tournament considering their overlooked progress. However, Braga’s home turf, Estadio Municipal de Braga, has been filled with lively atmosphere with more than 30,000 fans in it for each of their decisive European fixtures.

There might not be a lot of players who had crucial roles in improving their Europa League campaign. Some of those figures are Hugo Viana, Vandinho, Custodio, the Brasilian forward Alan, Ahmed Hassan, Rafa Silva and the Montenegro defender, Nikola Vuckevic. They have been the distinguished names in the club’s history along with these two managers, Domingos Paciencia and Paulo Fonseca. They have made notable contributions in their European campaign in the continental second tier competition.

Top Achievements

Sporting Braga’s stellar season in Europe was surely in 2010/11 when they were against the odds and went through the final after thumping Benfica on away goal rule at the previous stage to prevent the ideal all Portuguese final in the continental tournament. They met Andre Villas-Boas’s FC Porto instead yet lost as expected by a single goal of Radamel Falcao in Dublin. Their next positive result was in 2015/16. Paulo Fonseca led the team to the quarter finals after knocking out Fenerbahce 4-2 on aggregate but the Ukraine side Shakhtar Donestk halted them by 6-1 win on aggregate.

In the rest of the season, Sporting Braga’s campaign in Europa League could only go as further as the round of 16 at most. They did it twice in 2006/07 and 2008/09 when Tottenham and PSG eliminated them 6-4 and 1-0 on aggregate respectively.

Iconic Moments

Since their first entry in 1966/67 UEFA Cup Winners Cup, Braga have had some matches to remember. The first one was the second leg 2011 semi final, Hugo Viana and Co had only one goal margin to level after 1-2 loss in Da Luz. Benfica was surely the favourite to face Porto which was already a half way to the summit after a big win over Villareal. Yet, it was Domingos Paciencia’s men who were through instead as a single goal of Custodio’s header sealed their crucial win. Next, still in the same season, they already edged out Liverpool in the round of 16. Alan found the back of the net at home game to score the only goal of the game after a goalless draw in the reverse fixture. The last one was at the group stage of 2015/16 when Paolo Fonseca’s side crushed Olympique Marseille 3-2. Ahmed Hassan, Eduardo and Alan netted their winning goals.

Braga’s most devastating moment was surely in 2011 final when the Colombian international Radamel Falcao buried the ball into their net just before the interval. Unfortunately, they were not able to respond well till the final whistle. Another one was in 2016 quarter final when they were hapless against Shakhtar Donestk and trashed 1-6 on aggregate.
