From the Loire-Atlantique region of western France, FC Nantes are one of the successful and respected clubs in French football. Becoming of the most titled French clubs after forming during Nazi occupation in 1943, Nantes has become known for its collective-based style of play dubbed jeu à la nantaise or Nantes-style play by fans.
With eight Ligue 1 titles under their belt, FC Nantes are known as the Canaries thanks to their bright yellow and green jerseys, they are also famous in France for producing some of the country’s best footballing talent. Former young players include World Cup winners Didier Deschamps, Marcel Desailly and Christian Karembeu.
The club competes at the Stade de la Beaujoire, opened in 1984, with a capacity of 35,000 seats it is also known to host international rugby fixtures.
