Watford Football Club was founded in 1881 in Hertfordshire, north-west of London and joined the Football League in 1920. Famously with popstar Elton John as a super-fan and former Chairman, Watford FC rose from the fourth division to the First Division in the early 1980s with Graham Taylor in charge.
Nicknamed The Hornets, they reached the FA Cup Final in 1984 and competed in the UEFA Cup the same year. The club plays with a gold and black colour scheme on their home kits and since last season, even enters the pitch to the Elton John classic ‘I’m Still Standing’.
Watford have a fierce rivalry with Luton Town, although league positioning means they don’t meet all that often anymore. The Hornets play in Vicarage Road since 1922 and have made Premier League teams their rivals in recent years. See if they can hold onto their Premier League status this season by comparing ticket prices now for Vicarage Road seats.
