A historic club from London’s East End, West Ham United, or The Hammers, was formed in 1895 and joined the Football League in 1919. They are one of only 8 clubs to have never fallen below the 2nd tier of English football although they have never managed to win the Premier League.
Recently, West Ham have undergone a big change. Leaving the Boleyn Ground, or Upton Park as it was known, their home for more than a century to take over as the owners of the London Olympic Stadium, now known as London Stadium. The 60,000 capacity stadium is located in Stratford in East London and is now the home to the Hammers.
West Ham claim many rivalries with other clubs, notably Tottenham and Chelsea in the Premier League but they have a long-standing and sometimes violent history with local rivals Millwall FC.
Three West Ham players were involved in the 1966 World Cup Final for England as they became World Champions. Bobby Moore, goalscorer Geoff Hurst and Martin Peters secured their place in history among the Hammers faithful, the current squad will be looking to try and match those heights sometime soon. Compare the best priced tickets to London Stadium and see the Hammers in action now.
