Getafe Information and Details
Getafe Club de Fútbol comes from the small city of Getafe, south of Madrid and are one of the smaller surprise packages of recent years in La Liga. Originally formed in 1923 the club never reached higher than the third tier of Spanish football and shortly after a large defeat at the hands of a star-studded FC Barcelona team, the club went into administration.
Reforming in 1983, the club went from strength-to-strength, climbing the entire Spanish football pyramid in just 20 years and becoming the fourth club from the Community of Madrid to play in La Liga after a dramatic final day promotion game against Tenerife.
After a fantastic 12-year stint at the top of the Spanish, Getafe were relegated to Segunda in 2016 but having bounced right back, they have now qualified for the UEFA Europa League for the third time and are challenging for European qualification once again.
Top quality football is being played at the modest Estadio Coliseum Alfonso Pérez, holding just over 17,000 fans. Compare the best prices for tickets to Getafe home games in La Liga here.
