Founded in 1899, in the city of Bremen, the club has grown to over 40,000 members. The club’s traditional home kit of green shirts and white shirts is known throughout Germany and the fans have celebrated the Bundesliga title four times since being one of the original clubs invited to the league.
Manager Otto Rehhagel is credited as bringing the longest period of success to the club. In his fourteen years with the club until 1995, Bremen won two Bundesliga titles, two DFB cups and the European Cup Winners’ Cup in 1992.
Bremen has celebrated a UEFA Cup final appearance in 2009 but hasn’t appeared in finals of European competition since.
