Parc Des Princes is definitely the most noteworthy stadiums in France football history. It has been surviving for years and hosting many important games, both continental and global tournaments. The current design was built in 1967 but it had been rebuilt twice beforehand, 1897 and 1932. The venue’s location on the French royal family’s huge park before the Revolution was the reason behind its name.
Stadium Facilities
Parc Des Princes was considered to have its distinguished design back in 1960s and 1970s due to its acoustic quality and oval roof design. There are four stands at this venue, which used to include the cycling track inside. They are Tribune Paris, Tribune Bolougne, Tribune Borelli and Tribune Auteuil. There have been plenty of memorable games held in the stadium which has been the home ground of two Paris-based team, PSG and Paris FC. In football, the highest attendance record was in 1983 when 49,575 people were the witness of PSG 2–0 win over Waterschei, the club which had been merged into the current KRC Genk, in the UEFA Cup Winners’ Cup quarter-finals. Meanwhile, in regional and international competitions, this venue had hosted three games in World Cup 1938, including the semi final between Hungary and Sweden, the 1956 Champions Cup/UEFA Champions League final when Real Madrid trashed Reims, EURO 1960 semi final and final, three fixtures in EURO 1984, including the final France versus Spain, 1995 UEFA Cup Winners Cup final between Real Zaragoza and Arsenal, six matches in World Cup 1998, including Brazil-Chile in the round of 16 and Croatia-Netherlands in the third place play off and five games in EURO 2016, including one match in round of 16 while Wales thumped Northern Ireland. Some other international tournaments which had been staged in Parc Des Princes are FIFA Women’s World Cup 2019, Rugby World Cup 2007 and 1991 plus Rugby World League 1972 and 1954.
Transportation to the Stadium
Stadium which is also known as Le Parc is quite easy to access by all means of transport. If the fans go by subway, then Metro Line 9 and 10 is the best choice by getting off at Porte de Saint-Cloud station, whereas for a tram, one should take line A, C, E , T2, T3b with the point to get off is at Pont du Garigliano.
As for the bus, the route to take are 22, 52, 62, 72, 189, 289, PC1 which stops at Porte de Saint-Cloud bus station. If one opts to go by car, take Périphérique Sud, D910 Boulogne exit. The most popular matches of PSG are for UEFA Champions League tickets.
