Brest Information and Details
Stade Brestois 29 from the city of Brest on the western tip of Brittany was formed in 1950. As an important port town in France, Brest has the largest metropolitan area in western Brittany, behind only Nantes and Rennes in the whole of historic Brittany.
SB29 have bounced between the top two leagues in France for most of its history and attained Ligue 1 status again this year by finishing second behind Metz in the 2018-19 season.
The club plays its games at the Stade Francis-Le Blé within the city of Brest. Opened in 1922 with a capacity of 1,800 fans, there was no real need for expansion of the stadium initially. It wasn’t until SB29 made it to Ligue 1 for the first time in the early 1980s that the ground got its redesign and expansion.
With the capacity up to over 10,000 officially, a record crowd of 21,619 squeezed in to see one of France’s most popular clubs, Olympique de Marseille in 1986 for a pre-season friendly.
