Tottenham Hostpur are looking to reach the final of the FA Cup and go all the way. The current stadium, the 62,850-seat Tottenham Stadium shall bring more fortune for them than the old White Hart Lane. The atmosphere from the fans in their new home turf is incomparable for each of their games.

Spurs have always had stars in each era but not all managed to bring glory in FA Cup for them. Some key players such as Sandy Brown, Jimmy Dimmock, Jimmy Greaves, Bobby Smith, Pat Jennings, Terry Venables, Osvaldo Ardilles, Glen Hoodle, Paul Gascoigne and Gary Lineker were lucky enough to lift the trophy. There are even fewer figures in the managerial position who won the titles for the club. They are John Cameron, Peter McWilliam, Keith Burkinshaw, Bill Nicholson and his former player Terry Venables.

Top Achievements

The Lilywhites have been able to clinch eight titles in FA Cup in nine finals. It is quite impressive for the team which is often considered unfortunate in the summit. However, the last time they won the competition was thirty years ago when Gary Lineker was actively playing. He led the team under the former Spurs star and Barcelona boss, Terry Venables, defeat Nottingham Forest 2-1 in the final. Previously, they managed to claim the silverwares consecutively on two occasions, the early 1980s (1981 and 1982) and in early 1960s (1961 and 1962). Furthermore, that era was considered as one of their golden days since Spurs could win another title in FA Cup, in 1967. The other two editions they were able to lift the trophy were in 1901 and 1921.

The most dreadful match during Tottenham’s campaign in FA Cup history was the 1987 final, the only time they suffered a loss. At that time, Chris Houghton and Co came as the favorite but were surprisingly beaten by Coventry City 2-3.

Iconic Moments

Tottenham definitely have a number of memorable games in FA Cup as their accolades span from 1900s to 1990s. The most unforgettable one was their first final in 1901. They had to go through a replay against Sheffield United. Spurs could only muster a 2-2 draw before finally dismantling The Blades 3-1. Next, their

Iconic Moments

came in 1960s when Billy Nicholson guided them to win the silverware three times, two of which, in 1961 and 1962, were clinched in a row by crushing Leicester City and Burnley. Another title was claimed in 1967 after Jimmy Greaves and Co stomped Chelsea at the final. Another moments of glory took place in 1981 and 1982 when Osvaldo Ardilles and Co won the trophies consecutively for the second time. The Lilywhites beat Manchester City and QPR.

Meanwhile, Tottenham’s most disappointing moment in FA Cup was none but 1987 final. The underdog Coventry City shocked David Pleat’s men and beat them 3-2.
