Arouca is another Portuguese club based in Porto. It is fairly new team since it was just founded in 25th December 1951. The club started their campaign climbing to the Portuguese league system only in 2008 as they reached third tier for the first time and one step at a time fought their way to the top flight, which finally succeeded in 2013. Previously, they had been spending five decades in the regional leagues. Arouca’s most memorable form was in 2015/16 season when they finished fifth on the table which earned their first ever continental competition, UEFA Europa League qualifying round. Unfortunately, their debut in Europe ended in the play-off after losing from the experienced team, Olympiakos and soon followed by the decline of their form leading to another relegation.
The club’s homebase is Estadio Municipal de Arouca with the capacity of 5,000 people. It was erected in 2006 and renovated in 2013 when they reached Premiera Liga for the first time in the club’s history.
