Information on Dinamo Zagreb Champions League tickets

Dinamo Zagreb is the most decorated teams in Croatia and have been making fairly positive progress in the past few season, especially in Europa League. Yet, when it comes to Champions League, the club will have to strive to do so despite the potentials they have. However, the European fixtures in their home turf, Maksimir Stadium are none to compare since their 35,123 fans and its daunting atmosphere are ready to welcome the opposition teams.

The club which was used to be named NK Croatia Zagreb have always been the source of local talents to create a solid Croatia national team. However, not many Croatain stars have been apart of the club’s notable campaign in the Champions League. Some who were lucky enough to play for Dinamo during their distinguished season in the European top tier are Drazen Ladic, Robert Prosinecki, Igor Biscan, Dario Simic, Tomislav Rukavina, Marko Rog, Marko Pjaca, Josip Brekalo, Mislav Orsic, Bruno Petkovic, plus a foreign star Dani Olmo. The only manager contributed well for the club’s UCL campaign is Velimir Zajec.

Top Achievements

Either under the name of Dinamo or Croatia Zagreb in the past, they have yet been able to qualify from the group stage. Their best result was in 1998/99 season when Champions League was in its odd format for a single season with only six groups and only two best runner up can go through the quarter final, the fortune was not on their side. The Croatian champion was able to finish second at the group stage when they were seeded with Ajax Amsterdam, FC Porto and Olympiakos. However, their rank was the lowest compared to the other five teams. Therefore, they failed to progress. That was their best chance so far.

In the next appearances, Dinamo Zagreb still have had a hard time to even finish third to earn the spot for Europa League knock out stage, despite being able to advance to the final round in this continental top flight.

Iconic Moments

Since their first entry in 1958/59 season, Dinamo Zagreb’s

Iconic Moments

were surely in 1998/99 season. Although they failed to progress due to the overall runner-up rank system, the Croatian side did manage to snatch three points in two games against the high profile teams. Velimir Zajec’s men beat Porto 3-1 at home and thumped Ajax 1-0 on the road by a single goal of Dario Simic a few weeks later.

Some other unforgettable moments were in 2015/16 and 2019/20 group stage opener. Dinamo managed to crush Arsenal 2-1 in the former season through Pivaric’s and Fernandes’ goals before Olivier Giroud netted a lifeline, whereas in the latter season Dani Olmo and Co trounced Atalanta 4-0. The Spaniard star himself bagged a hattrick in that game. Unfortunately, those are the only victory they picked up in both seasons as they slumped to five and four defeats respectively afterwards.

Meanwhile, their disappointing moment was their failure to seal a win while playing host to Olympiakos in 1998/99. They needed a win to progress but only mustered a 1-1 draw as Jelicic’s goal was equalised by the former Greek international Stellios Giannakopoulos. Such cost their golden opportunity to go through.
